fennec on windows mobile… a start

Brad Lassey posted some emulator pictures just a bit ago. Here is one picture of the Fennec on a windows mobile device:

yeah, so there are some glaring problems (like, uh, not painting the web content…). Getting this far is a huge milestone. Thanks to John Wolfe, Brad Lassey, Brian Crowder for pushing on this port.

Now is the time to get involved! Check out the build instructions, and join us on irc (irc.mozilla.org #wince and #mobile).

  4. Hi, I was trying to build Fennec from the repository, and some hours later I did (patching all those “#include <stdexcept>“, paths misconfigurations, resource compilation for updater etc. got quite a bit of time).

But it just won’t run. On my device Fennec fails on LoadLibraryExW for xul.dll (with error “Invalid parameter”, though it detected the path correctly), and then displays “Couldn’t load XPCOM”. What could I do wrong?

  14. Awesome I’m really looking forward to the winmo port. I hope this is a finally a browser that can compete to Opera Mobile, the latest Beta is very impressive there too.
The only thing I fear is that my 200Mhz Omap phone wont be fast enough for the Browser to act fluent. Tweak is where ever you can! Not everyone can afford a Diamond or one of those top of the line winmo phones. I still have a htc prophet (flashed with WinMo 6.1) :( .

  16. Over clock that Omap using a CPU scaler and you should be able to run it at at least 286Mhz. It helps a lot. Battery Status Today plugin does a nice job at it.

Can I have another browser that doesn’t work well on WinMo, please? Hehehe
